Long time, huh?
First, I want to thank you all for following this humble newsletter, and reading along with my thoughtfully developed painstakingly written posts in 2020. I’ve mentioned before that this project started as a way for me to express myself, continue writing as a practice, and create some samples for my job search. The fact that any of you care to read, share, and respond is simply lovely.
When I started writing Sunday Brunch in May 2020, I was feeling inspired. Days were bright and warm. I was committed to a (mostly) daily creative practice and even exercising regularly. But, as fall and winter came, the days got colder, wetter, and shorter. I hit a slump. That, combined with the anxiety of the election, job hunting, and the overall tone of last year, left me not only with writer’s block, but with an overall idea block.
Alas, with a new year comes new creative excitement (forced or not), and I am looking forward to bringing more of my Sunday best. I can’t promise the same level of consistency that last summer brought, but you can always expect to find posts from me (and some friends) in your inboxes on Sundays, though maybe not every single Sunday. And, hopefully, as a semi-social life starts to return to us, I’ll have more thoughts spinning around, sparked by old-age things like conversation and new experiences.
Things are starting to look a bit more positive these days, for myself personally and for the world at large. I hope they are for you as well.
I'd love to hear from you about some posts from last year you enjoyed, so I know better which areas to draw from. Let me know in the comments or just reply directly to this post in your email.
Here’s to peace and comfort in 2021. 🥂
happy sunday. 🌞
What are Sundays for if not a refreshing daytime cocktail with a side of conversation?
Think of this newsletter as a Sunday brunch with friends, a space where we unwind from the past week, and gear up for the week ahead.
If you’re liking sunday brunch, think of three friends who would enjoy and share it with them.
